Next time you’re pulled over by a cop, tell them they’re fired, and then call the police department and demand they investigate themselves to make sure they’re not doing something wrong against you. Sound crazy? That’s because it is.
Every political panel with every talking head has said the same thing, “the president is not above the law.” However president Trump has had a history now of proving otherwise.
When NBC’s Lester Holt interviewed president Trump he admitted that he fired former FBI Director James Comey because “it was a made up story” -in reference to Russian collusion.
And now in the latest turn of events the president is now asking that the Justice Department investigate… the investigation. Why? Because the FBI used a confidential informant who met with Trump campaign members that had ties to Russians and other countries interested in helping the Trump campaign. The Washington Post reported this turn of events just yesterday.
While you nor I are the elected leaders of the free world, we are not above the law. This nation is touted as a nation of laws and not of men but it seems that one man is at the center of cutting legal inquiries at the knees and that man is the president.
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray have agreed to allow the inspector general to look into this matter without derailing the current Russia probe being conducted by the special counsel, led by Robert Mueller. But while it seems that there’s a separation between inquiries, there’s no telling whether or not the president will interfere further.
Aside from this being a mockery of a tired out platitude involving the words law, men, and nation what this is becoming is something that looks more and more like obstruction of justice with each 24 hour news cycle.
