America is losing the trade war, and President Trump is the reason for it -he dragged us into this mess. No matter how much perfume you put on this, it stinks. I’ll make it easy for you. China bought 60% of our soybeans last year -we sold them $12.3 billion worth. Trump implemented a 25% tariff on the People’s Republic and now his administration is working on authorizing relief for farmers in the Midwest for guess how much? That’s right $12 billion dollars.
In the new upside-down world that we live in, Trump supporters won’t bat an eye at this. They’ll say that Trump is negotiating, that I don’t know what I’m talking about, and that I should support our president.
If I was smart I would let this dumpster fire continue, shut up, and let all that political capital go to his opponents who are sure to flip seats during the November Midterms -go register if you haven’t already by the way. Here’s the thing, I don’t want farmers to suffer. We should want them to thrive, hell, we need them to thrive. They feed America and the rest of the world. If they can’t do their jobs, the consequences will move beyond a bad economy.
Check out what these crazy libtards are saying:
“This is becoming more and more like a Soviet type of economy here: Commissars deciding who’s going to be granted waivers, commissars in the administration figuring out how they’re going to sprinkle around benefits,” said Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin.
“Taxpayers are going to be asked to initial checks to farmers in lieu of having a trade policy that actually opens and expands more markets. There isn’t anything about this that anybody should like,” said Sen. John Thune of South Dakota.
Sen. Ben Sasse said, “This trade war is cutting the legs out from under farmers and the White House’s ‘plan’ is to spend $12 billion on gold crutches.”
How can you possibly disagree with them? How is this winning? It’s paying people for losing. And why are they losing? Because the president made this decision. He owns it, and we must remind him come this fall.
Morning Trump and night time Trump disagree.
Literally, from morning to evening Trump’s position on tariffs shift. Yesterday morning on the 24th as we were all waking up, he proclaimed on twitter that “Tariffs are the greatest!” and then by bed time he was calling for an end to “Tariffs, Barriers and Subsidies!”.
What should this tell us? There was never a plan. This is all guts and no brains and it’s not serving anyone but himself. The US farmer is not gaining anything from this type of chaos and in the end each of us will pay taxes to subsidize this bail out deal.
Again I ask you, how is this winning? Well I’ll tell you how. Trump knee capped the farmers he said he was looking out for and then offered a cane after hobbling them. This is an attempt at looking like the hero. He’s undoing the knots on the rope that he himself tied, desperately trying to get his victim off the tracks that he laid them on, and it’s his train coming right at them. If this is the Trump Train so many howled about, I’d rather walk.
To top it off, Trump is already folding with the European Union on tariffs. Today European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker came to the White House to meet with Trump and they walked out saying they would “work together toward zero tariffs” and they would “reassess” existing ones.
This only happened because big business and vulnerable GOP lawmakers grumbled together at the master deal maker. This however, should be a framework for the issue with soybeans and every other moronic move pushing tariffs.
So now the question is, do we allow this president to make a mockery of our global economy and shield his pride with the loss of jobs, production and commerce by peddling a bailout to us? I say no! We must make calls to our blue and red representatives and senators to let them know that a return to 1929 is not the right move, and remind them that it’s 2018.
No bailouts, end the tariffs, get the adults in the room and stop the bleeding.
