Did you know early voting started on October 23? If you haven’t gotten your ballot in the mail or missed the deadline to sign up for vote by mail you can avoid waiting until November 6, and do it between now and next Tuesday. You don’t need to wait until Election Day to vote!
If you live in Salt Lake County and can make it downtown you can vote any time between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The SLCO Government Center is located at 2001 S State Street and they’re waiting for you to come vote. You’ll need your state issued ID or your voter registration card to cast your ballot, so don’t delay and go vote!
If you don’t want to make the trek downtown you can visit ANY polling location in the county so you don’t really have any excuse not to do it. Just visit the website, select your county and a location convenient to you.
Don’t work banker hours? No problem. Each polling location has hours listed from 12:00 to 5:00 PM, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM & between 2:00 and 7:00 PM. If you’re visiting a location other than the SLCO Government Center early voting starts on October 31 and will be available to you every week day, running into the official day of voting on November 6.
Feeling left out because you don’t live in Salt Lake County? No worries, the same website I referred to earlier allows you to select the county you reside in for early voting locations.
Remember that you can register as you vote so if you haven’t registered just show up with your ID and get it done. Don’t roll your eyes at me and tell me you have an out of state ID. You can still vote! Show up with your utility bill showing your current Salt Lake County address, and your current ID and you will be able to vote!
How do I know all of this? Because I called the County Clerk’s Election Office about a zillion times to gather the information for you. And why did I do this? Because I want you to vote and I want you to get an “I Voted” sticker. There’s no excuse to stay home this election. If Tuesdays are bad for you, you have the option of voting on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Monday with a variety of hours at your disposal.
Right after you finish reading this -and share it- make a plan and go vote. The country needs you!
